Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Olio Homestay ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects information across oliohomestay.com (our website and booking flow) and the Olio Homestay app used by our staff and owners to manage bookings and receive notifications. It does not cover the separate Olio Homemade restaurant website.
Who we are
Olio Homestay is a guesthouse in Hang Dong, Chiang Mai, Thailand, operated by Olio Homemade Co., Ltd. Olio Homestay and Olio Homemade share the same building and owners but keep separate guest data.
Information we collect
When you check availability or book through our website, we collect the information you provide directly:
- Name and contact details (email address, phone number)
- Requested stay dates, room preference, and party size
- Any special requests or messages you include with your booking
- The payment slip you upload after paying by QR or bank transfer — the screenshot of your bank's or wallet's confirmation. We use it only to match your payment in our account. It is stored privately and is never shown to anyone outside our team.
If your stay is confirmed, we also keep booking details (room, dates, rate, and any notes needed to prepare for your stay) for as long as needed to manage your booking and meet our accounting and legal obligations.
The staff app
Members of our team use a companion app to manage bookings and receive notifications about new enquiries, check-ins, check-outs, and housekeeping tasks. That app uses guest and booking information described above, plus a device push token used only to deliver those notifications. It does not collect data from guests directly.
How we use information
- To respond to enquiries and manage bookings
- To prepare for and communicate about your stay
- To notify staff and owners of booking activity so a stay can be looked after properly
- To meet accounting, tax, and legal record-keeping requirements
We do not sell guest information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Sharing
We share information only with service providers who help us run the website and booking system (hosting and infrastructure providers), and only to the extent needed to provide that service. We do not share guest information with the restaurant, Olio Homemade, beyond what a shared front-of-house team needs to greet guests staying with us.
Data retention
We keep enquiry and booking records for as long as needed to manage your stay and to meet our accounting and legal obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Payment slips are kept for ten years, the period Thai accounting rules ask us to keep proof of payment.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by contacting us using the details below.
Children's privacy
Our website and app are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the names and ages of children included in a guest's own party for a booking.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
