Olio Homestay
A guesthouse in Hang Dong · Chiang Mai
This four-bedroom house was fully imagined by designer Molly Li on the south side of Chiang Mai, between Saraphi and Hang Dong. Molly oversaw the project from an empty field through the construction and design of the house, garden and surrounding spaces.
The project takes inspiration from the Italian countryside, while incorporating materials and details from northern Thailand. Some of the bedrooms have terracotta floors, while the living room and master bedroom use local brick. All of the windows and doors are repurposed from Ban Tawai village, known for its traditional woodwork. The result is a house that combines the character of an Italian country home with the materials, craft and feel of its surroundings.

Rooms
The house has four rooms: Wander, the largest, and three of the same size, Hush, Pause and Linger. All have air conditioning and a private bathroom. Breakfast is included with every room.
The only room on the second floor, with daylight from every side and a balcony over the garden. A king bed and a private bathroom with a bathtub. Sleeps 2, or 3 with a large sofa.

Outside
The house sits in a garden of old trees. A swing hangs from the biggest one. There is a lawn, a fountain, and tables under the branches, with string lights for the evening. Breakfast is served out here when the weather allows, and inside the restaurant when it does not.

The restaurant · Olio Homemade
Olio Homemade is in the same house as the rooms. The living room, the dining room and the garden are part of the restaurant. It serves wood-fired pizza and a short menu that changes with what is available, with natural wine, and coffee during the day. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 20:00 and closed on Mondays. Breakfast for guests is served here and is included in the room. Guests get 15% off dinner.
